Wind turbine selection decision-making process (five step judgment method)

In actual selection, the scope can be gradually narrowed down according to the following five questions to quickly locate the most suitable type of fan.

Step 1: What is the total system resistance (static pressure)?

Static pressure>500 Pa → Priority centrifugal fan

Static pressure of 200~500 Pa → mixed flow fan or low-pressure centrifugal fan

Static pressure<200 Pa → Priority axial flow fan

Step 2: Is the installation space limited?

• Adequate space → All types can be considered

The installation section is strictly limited or circular ducts need to be embedded → mixed flow or axial flow fans are more suitable

Step 3: Does the medium contain corrosive components, dust, or high temperatures?

High temperature (>200 ° C), containing corrosive media → Customized centrifugal fan (made of high temperature resistant/corrosion-resistant material) is required

• Contains dust but normal temperature → Choose a centrifugal fan with wear-resistant impeller

Clean air → all three types are acceptable

Step 4: Are there any noise control requirements?

Strict noise restrictions (residential areas, hospitals, offices) → Priority should be given to axial flow or low-noise centrifugal fans, which need to be equipped with mufflers

• Loose noise requirements in industrial settings → All types are acceptable

Step 5: Does the operating condition change frequently (variable air volume system)?

Strong demand for variable air volume operation → Recommended to equip with variable frequency drive (VFD)

The preferred choice for axial flow fans is adjustable blade type; The efficiency curve of the backward blade profile of the centrifugal fan is wider when combined with it

The adjustability of mixed flow fans under variable operating conditions is generally average
